Lipstick Review: Maybelline NY Super Stay 14HR

First review ever! Got tipped on this drugstore lipstick by a friend of mine. She wore the Maybelline NY Super Stay 14HR ‘Non-Stop Red (510)’ when we met the other day. Now she has Afghan roots, so her skin color is slightly different than mine. But it looked a-mazing on her, so I bought this little bargain for only 12,99 euros too. Bit of a blind guess, because the color could easily look totally different on me than it did on her. I call it a bargain because the last red lipstick I bought from Dior cost me a rib.

This lipstick comes in a small, handy holder. Just a simple design, nothing fancy. The drip shaped lipstick smells like raspberries, nothing too heavy, just a minimal odour. The drip shape makes it easy to precisely paint the corners of your Cupid’s bow (curve on your upper lip). The color of it tends to vermillion. It’s not exactly fire red, but definitely not orange-red.

What Maybelline promises on their website: no dragging, no drying, no letdowns at all. It should stay fresh, light and comfortable for 14HR. This is my verdict: It definitely stays on for a long while, I counted the hours and it did for about 10 hours. The color faded of course after a while, but a glimps of rouge stayed. Thereby I had no problems with drying-out lips. I do hydrate my lips multiple times a day with lip balm, so that could play a big role in it. I have to say I was positively surprised by how persistent the color was after I had lunch, dinner and multiple glasses of water, coffee and tea. My boyfriend was also very happy with my new lipstick, because his lips weren’t completely covered in red after I kissed him. Gives me prove it’s ‘super stay’ and I would definitely re-purchase this drugstore lipstick.
